Course Fees 2009/10

Tuition fees

Gaining a Higher Education qualification is one of the greatest contributions you can make to maximise your earnings potential. For 2010 entrants, we, like most universities, will be charging £3290 per year for full time undergraduate courses.

Pay when you are earning, not when you are learning

No new full time undergraduate student will have to pay tuition fees before or whilst they are studying. You will be eligible to receive a loan to cover the cost of fees, which will be paid direct to the College on your behalf. You will repay this loan once you have graduated and are earning over £15,000 per annum.

Bradford College Bursary Scheme

A bursary is a grant of money made to a student. The grant awarded through the Bradford College Bursary Scheme does not have to be repaid and most of our students will benefit from the scheme. You will be eligible for the scheme if you:

  • Have a family income up to £30,000 per year
  • Satisfy the college’s attendance policy
  • Are a new full time undergraduate student from 2010

Year one students will receive a one off payment of £500

Year two students will receive a one off payment of £600

Year three students will receive a one off payment of £700

The following students will not be eligible for the Bradford College Bursary Scheme:

  • Repeat year students
  • Postgraduate students
  • Part Time students
  • International students
  • Bradford College students who have been paying a tuition fee of £2000 prior to 2010

Equivalent or Lower Qualifications (ELQ) and College Fees

If you are planning on studying for a postgraduate or undergraduate degree or HND course and already have a Higher Education qualification, you will need to check whether you are taking an equivalent or lower qualification (ELQ).

Unfortunately, the Government no longer provides funding for students who are studying for a Higher Education qualification which is at the same level, or lower than, a qualification that they already hold. This means that Higher Education institutions are forced to charge more than the standard fee. In 2010, Undergraduate ELQ students will be charged a fee of £5000 per annum and Postgraduate ELQ students a fee of £7000 per annum.

Exemptions from ELQ

The good news is that the following student groups and courses are exempt from the ELQ fees policy:

  • All Foundation Degrees
  • Early Years Professional Status
  • GTP and RTP courses
  • BA (Hons) in Primary Education with QTS
  • BEd (Hons) with QTS
  • All PGCE (secondary, primary and lifelong learning sector)
  • BA (Hons) in Social Work
  • BA (Hons) in Youth & Community Development
  • Students with disabilities, who are in receipt of the Disabled Students’ Allowance
  • Students who have achieved a PGCE who are taking a postgraduate qualification (eg MA, MSc, Postgraduate Diploma)
